چکیده
A simple modification of the "Wang-Landau sampling" algorithm removes the systematic error that occurs at the boundary of the range of energy over which the random walk takes place in the original algorithm.

Improving Wang-Landau sampling with adaptive windows.
Wang-Landau sampling (WLS) of large systems requires dividing the energy range into "windows" and joining the results of simulations in each window. The resulting density of states (and associated thermodynamic functions) is shown to suffer from boundary effects in simulations of lattice polymers and the five-state Potts model. Here, we implement WLS using adaptive windows. Instead of defining ...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional Wang-Landau algorithm for osmotic pressure calculations in a polyelectrolyte-membrane system
The Monte Carlo method based on two-dimensional entropic sampling within the Wang-Landau (WL) algorithm is applied to simulation of a continuous model of a polyelectrolyte between membrane surfaces. Membranes are presented by parallel plane surfaces holding either fixed or mobile dipoles (representing lipid headgroups). A strongly charged polyion accompanied by neutralizing counterions is place...
متن کاملIncorporating configurational-bias Monte Carlo into the Wang-Landau algorithm for continuous molecular systems.
Configurational-bias Monte Carlo has been incorporated into the Wang-Landau method. Although the Wang-Landau algorithm enables the calculation of the complete density of states, its applicability to continuous molecular systems has been limited to simple models. With the inclusion of more advanced sampling techniques, such as configurational-bias, the Wang-Landau method can be used to simulate ...
متن کاملVersatile approach to access the low temperature thermodynamics of lattice polymers and proteins.
We show that Wang-Landau sampling, combined with suitable Monte Carlo trial moves, provides a powerful method for both the ground state search and the determination of the density of states for the hydrophobic-polar (HP) protein model and the interacting self-avoiding walk (ISAW) model for homopolymers. We obtain accurate estimates of thermodynamic quantities for HP sequences with >100 monomers...
متن کاملCritical behavior of hard-core lattice gases: Wang-Landau sampling with adaptive windows
Critical properties of lattice gases with nearest-neighbor exclusion are investigated via the adaptive-window Wang-Landau algorithm on the square and simple cubic lattices, for which the model is known to exhibit an Ising-like phase transition. We study the particle density, order parameter, compressibility, Binder cumulant and susceptibility. Our results show that it is possible to estimate cr...
